2tweets is a Chrome extension that lets you select two tweets on x.com and combine them into a single side-by-side image for a new post.

What the extension does

• When you select a tweet, it takes a screenshot of the visible tab (chrome.tabs.captureVisibleTab) and crops it to that tweet's on-screen position.
• The two crops and their tweet URLs are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local / chrome.storage.session) so the selection survives a page reload.
• When you choose to create a post, the composed image and text are handed to X's own compose page in your browser.

What data leaves your device

None. 2tweets does not have a server, does not make any network requests of its own, and does not use analytics, tracking, or advertising code. All screenshots, crops, and tweet URLs stay in your local browser storage and are only ever sent to x.com, by your own action, as the content of a post you choose to create.

Why the extension asks for these permissions

• Host permission (all URLs): the Chrome tab-capture API used to screenshot a tweet rejects a permission scoped only to x.com/twitter.com, so a broad host permission is required for that API to function — even though the extension's code only runs on x.com and twitter.com pages (see content_scripts.matches in the manifest).
• storage / unlimitedStorage: used only to hold the tweet screenshots and URLs you've selected, locally, until you create or discard the post.

Data retention

A pending selection is kept in local storage for up to 60 minutes, and a pending post handed to the compose tab is discarded after 2 minutes or once it's been read — whichever comes first. Nothing is retained beyond that.
